The Drummer's Trauma
04:28
|
|||
in the beginning the store seemed like a good idea
passionate people getting discount on gear
being surrounded by music all day
hanging around, playing the drums, getting paid
but the reality working in that place
how are you supposed to keep a friendly face
to the people coming from the testing booths
when they are not at all sound proof?
like children
banging and hitting and crashing from 9 to 5
big egos with no technical skills
how do you survive
all the drummer drama
it's the drummers trauma
famous drummers coming in before gigs
some of them were nice
most of them were pricks
musicians are not the top of society
as proven by any rehearsal spaces sanitaries
like children
banging and hitting and crashing from 9 to 5
big egos with no technical skills
how do you survive
all the drummer drama
it's the drummers trauma
don't know what this is, but I'll hit it as hard as I can
don't know what this is, but I'll shake it as loud as I can
tell me, is this singing bowl tuned to the planet?
I took this hardware on tour, now I'd like to return it
hey security, make sure he pays for that cowbell
and while you're at it can you take me out of this acoustic hell?
like children
banging and hitting and crashing from 9 to 5
big egos with no technical skills
how do you survive
all the drummer drama
it's the drummers trauma

Balconies
03:22
|
|||
nature’s inhaling deeply
and animals you rarely see
have begun to come out of hiding
the airplanes vanished from the sky
the tourists left Neuschwanstein
just a few keep falling off the snowy mountains
empty shelves and empty streets
Italians singing on balconies
signs of what is going on and what’s to come
unexpected laws and fines
unexpected leisure time
virtual family reunions
the boy is playing in the sand
voice messages from toddler friends
by now he lost his fear of bees and ants
teen couples that meet secretly
and neighbors that call the police
when they hear signs of joy and sounds of laughter
blue tits are dying mysteriously
a blackbird’s breeding on the balcony
no clue what’s going on and whats to come
old folks are chatting in the street
the young are locked behind their screens
police are eating ice cream in the sun
the awkwardness when people meet
the distance that they try to keep
makes some of them smile and others grumble
toads are spinning black strings
the first people dare to swim
everything’s a bit too warm too soon
the sun is shining empathically
home office on the balcony
signs of what is going on and what’s to come

Camomile & Rusk
04:45
|
|||
buzzing is the air around my head
tilting is the floor under the bed
speaking are the patterns on the wall
sleeping is the answer to it all
a pointless monologue inside
somewhere between dream and waking life
will you bring me camomile and rusk?
demeaning for you to see me
weakened and incapable
humbling to be reminded
I'm relying on biology
confining physically and mentally
sleeping provides no remedy
an endless monologue inside
from now until the end of life
will you be my camomile and rusk?
find space within our boundaries
hold up to this fragility
be my base and my pillow
my camomile and rusk
find peace with all our shortcomings
hold up to this fragility
be my base and my pillow
my camomile and rusk
find space within our boundaries
hold up to this fragility
be your base and your pillow
your camomile and rusk
find peace with all our shortcomings
hold up to this fragility
be your base and your pillow
your camomile and rusk

The Lakes
03:34
|
|||
summer
dozing away the afternoons
genuine and innocent
when did youth ever feel as elegant?
it all happened at the lakes
water
laughter, confidence and skin
electrifying and pleasant
when we were all in our element
it all happened at the lakes
summer
exchanging songs, inciting love
we were heedful, we were present
when did youth ever feel as relevant?
it all happened at the lakes
